Day 1: Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania
Upon arrival in Arusha, Tanzania at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by Allan Njamakuya (Founder/Owner) himself or a driver guide to help you gather your belongings and go through customs. Then, you will be transferred to Ilboru Safari lodge for your first overnight in Africa. (Overnight at Ilboru Safari Lodge)
Day 2: Arusha National Park
Today, you will head to Arusha National Park for a game drive. This is the smallest park in Tanzania, but it has incredibly diverse scenery and wildlife. Common animals include the giraffe, Cape buffalo, zebra, warthog, monkey, flamingo, elephant and lion. Leopards are present, but are rarely seen. Birdlife is prolific, with many species more easily seen here than in other parks. We will head back to the lodge later this afternoon for relaxing time. (Overnight at Ilboru Safari Lodge)
Days 3: Tarangire National Park
Departing Arusha, we will drive across the Maasai village on our way to Tarangire National Park, the fourth largest park in Tanzania. From our luxury tented camp, you will see majestic Baobab and Acacia Tortilla Trees. On the game drive, you will be able to spot big groups of Elephants, Impalas, Warthog, Lion, Leopard, Gerenuk, Zebra, Giraffe, Water-buck and over 300 species of birds. Day 4: Manyara National Park via Ngorongoro Crater
Today, we head to Lake Manyara for a few hours and then continue to Ngorongoro Crater. Lake Manyara National Park offers dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. The shores of the lake attract more than 400 bird species, including pink flamingo. The park is also famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions.
Ngorongoro Crater has an astounding population of about 30,000 animals. It is often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Today you will cross the short grass plains to Ngorongoro Crater as we are heading to our camp to enjoy lunch at a picnic site. We will visit the fascinating Maasai tribe and view their dancing and singing. (Overnight at Angata Tented Camp in Ngorongoro)
Days 5: Ngorongoro Crater
This morning you will descend to the base of the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of a game viewing. You will slikely see a wide variety of wildlife such as cheetahs, hippo, hyena, gazelle and the big "Big Five." You will also spot Kori Bustards, Marabou storks, Ostriches, crowned cranes and other birds. We will return to the lodge in time for hot showers and dinner. Then we'll watch the sun set at our campsite. (Overnight at Angata tented camp in Ngorongoro)
Day 6: Serengeti National Park.
Today we leave the crater and make our way to the Serengeti. The Serengeti has abundant wildlife, vast golden plains dotted with acacia trees and crocodile and hippo-filled rivers. We will explore the great Serengeti for the next three days. Serengeti National Park is well known for the great wildebeest migration and has the densest lion population in the world. It is also home to all members of the "Big Five: Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, Leopards and the African Buffalo. Also over 300 species of birds, including Vultures, can be seen in this park. Game viewing includes a box lunch until you return for dinner. (Overnight at Angata luxury tented camp in Serengeti migration north)
Day 7: North Serengeti.
Today we hope to see the great migration of wildebeest trying to cross the deadly Mara river, filled with African crocodiles. We will search for the elusive leopard and other animals we haven't yet seen. (Overnight at Angata luxury tented camp in Serengeti migration north)
Day 8: Central Serengeti
Today, we will be heading to the central Serengeti after breakfast, hoping to see more wildlife. (Overnight at luxury tented camp in Central Serengeti)
Day 9: Serengeti National Park
After an early departure, we will exit the great Serengeti via the Olduvai Gorge. Viewing wildlife as we travel, we will make a brief stop at an archeological museum, near where the remains of the earliest human being were discovered in this area 3 million years ago. A special treat awaits you at our wonderful lodge. (Overnight Acacia Farm Lodge)
Day 10: Back to Arusha
Depart after breakfast and drive back to Arusha on time for a bit of shopping and a farewell late lunch. Rest and relax before transfer to the international airport for your departing flight. (Day rooms Ilboru Safari Lodge)
